Bedwyn and Hinksey Stroud Bridges
Waterman was appointed by Colas Rail to undertake the design of approach walkways and retaining structures for Bedwyn and Hinksey Stroud Railway Bridges.
Waterman undertook the structural and geotechnical design in accordance with Network Rail codes and procedures. Waterman acted as CRE Civils for the schemes and prepared forms 01, 02 and 03’s. We also contributed to IDC/IDR meetings and liaised with other disciplines such as permanent way design.
Due to tight project timescales and limited possession times, Waterman’s designs were developed for simple and rapid construction. Following our review of the geotechnical conditions, we designed Gabion basket walls on compacted granular fill. We also proposed a construction sequence to reduce undermining of the track bed.
The project was delivered successfully on time.
