Berryfields Major Development Area

Waterman have been acting for a number of years for a consortium of developers preparing an outline planning application and addressing subsequent Reserved Matters for the Berryfields Major Development Area (MDA).

Waterman’s Ecology Team have undertaken a suite of baseline ecological surveys, together with the preparation of an ecological Impact Assessment chapter and mitigation plan.

All of the badger survey results, together with proposals for mitigation and enhancement were used to detail a Natural England badger licence application. Upon the successful granting of the badger licence by Natural England, the artificial sett was built and the main sett closed. Movement-sensor cameras set up outside the entrances of the artificial sett, confirmed that the badgers had taken up residence.
