Enviroparks Hirwaun

Enviroparks Hiwaun Ltd has secured planning consent for one of the first merchant waste recycling plants in the UK. The Enviropark is a resource recovery and energy production facility where diverse wastes are recycled using integrated technologies on a single site. The facility will be designed to produce maximum energy and minimum residual waste with minimum environmental impact.

Waterman has been appointed as Lead Consultant for the Phase 1 works on this 20 acre site facility. We are also providing civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and geotechnical engineering services.

The Phase 1 works include the construction of a sophisticated state of the art Materials Recycling Facility, together with Anaerobic Digestion and Gasification plants, planned within Phase 2 of the project. Phase 1 has included the design of a piled, steel framed Materials Recycling Building.

The design includes a high specification concrete ground floor slab and concrete push walls, for waste reception and internal waste processing. The facility has the capacity to process up to 240,000 tonnes of mixed municipal, commercial and industrial waste per annum.

Gatehouse, Welfare Facilities and weigh bridges are included within the Phase 1 contract, together with the site wide infrastructure, including ground engineering & foundations, site access roads, aprons & service yards, surface water & foul water drainage systems, hard & soft landscaping, utilities connections and distribution on site, together with a major sewer diversion. A  major sewer diversion is also planned in Phase 2
