The project transformed the eastern half of the building to provide new 40,000m2 headquarters overlooking Parliament Square. HM Customs & Excise and Inland Revenue occupied the space early in 2005. Work involved providing new cores, more efficient circulation, a remodelled interior and the landscaping of the eastern courtyard to create a dramatic focal point for the building. The project was financed, procured and delivered under the Private Finance Initiative (PFI). GOGGS East was a past awards finalist at MIPIM.
