Scout Moor Wind Farm Expansion
Waterman was commissioned by Peel Energy to provide transport planning support in relation to the expansion of the Scout Moor Wind Farm in Lancashire. The proposals consisted of the provision of an additional 16-wind turbines, located on land adjacent to the existing 26- turbines.
Our team provided input into the following assessments which were incorporated into the final Environmental Statement:
- Environmental Statement chapter (Transport & Highways);
- Transport Assessment;
- Traffic data to inform Air Quality and Noise assessments;
- Abnormal Load Route Assessment Appraisal;
- Detailed Bridge Load Assessments;
- Grid Connection Assessment; and
- Input into the Construction Environmental Management Plan.
The above assessments were required in order to identify any issues associated with the construction, operation and decommissioning of the proposed turbines, whilst also incorporating a cumulative impact assessment when considering the existing operational scheme and a nearby proposed wind turbine scheme.
The undertaking of the above assessments involved consultation with a number of stakeholders, members of the Local Authority and the Highways Agency, including close liaison with the wider project team. All consultation was recorded within a dedicated ‘Stakeholder Management’ software system.
The Planning Application and Environmental Assessment was submitted to Rossendale and Rochdale Borough Councils mid-2015.
