West Midlands Highways Alliance Professional Services Framework

Waterman, working in a strategic partnership with Atkins, was appointed as the sole Tier 1 supplier to the West Midlands Highway Alliance (WMHA) Professional Services Framework in May 2013, to deliver a broad range of municipal, highways and engineering consultancy services across the region.

This 4 year Framework Agreement is led by Warwickshire County Council, Coventry City Council and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and can be accessed by 10 other West Midlands local authorities who are members of the Alliance together with Centro, the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive.

The overall aim of the Framework is to achieve better quality design and professional services at lower cost for member organisations by utilising shared resources.

The total fee spend on the contract to date is £9 million. We have delivered over 130 packages of work and Waterman currently supplies 80 secondees to the 3 local authorities. Other benefits of the Alliance include CPD events and seminars that take place in client offices.

Our staff have helped to deliver a number of high profile projects including public realm schemes and the Friargate scheme in Coventry, and improvements to M40 junction 12 for Warwickshire County Council.

Waterman was also commissioned under the West Midlands Highways Alliance Framework to provide independent technical advice to the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Transport Body (CWLTB) Technical Group on Major Scheme Priorities Assessment.

“The expert advice provided by Waterman will help us to plan effectively and to prioritise transport schemes in the area and ensure we deliver value for money for our local residents. Waterman delivered on time and I would be happy to recommend them to others.”
