Flood risk assessments are carried out to identify the source of potential flooding, the extent of flooding and the proposed mitigation and protection measures.
1D and 2D hydraulic models can be used to simulate flood events enabling us to have a better understanding of flood risk, allowing us to develop options to manage that risk.
Our experienced hydrologists and engineers use hydraulic flood models and ground modelling to assess the impact of flooding on a development and the impact of the development on a watercourse. Models can also be used to assess overtopping or breach scenarios and to undertake blocked culvert analysis. The results can then be used to determine levels of flood protection, developing mitigation and alleviation options.
Waterman is experienced in developing flood and drainage models, and has the capability to work with a range of modelling packages including; Hec-Ras, Micro Drainage, Isis, Info Works, TUFLOW and 12D.
