Our History

Waterman Group was founded in 1952 by Harold Waterman and was originally headquartered in London with a focus on city clients who invested throughout the United Kingdom.

Over the following years, Waterman established a reputation for high quality, practical engineering with a hands on approach from all its senior directors. This culture remains today and is engendered in the next generation of engineers and environmental scientists. Waterman provides advice and resources to clients in all sectors and the five main disciplines are:

Building Services
Civil and Transportation consultancy
Highways and Transportation outsourcing

Waterman floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1988 and the company has significant resources, both technical and financial, to support its clients to achieve their objectives.

The company has offices throughout the United Kingdom and international offices in Dublin, Melbourne and Sydney. Overseas projects throughout the world are designed from Waterman’s existing design hubs where a team with the most appropriate skills and experience for a project can be resourced.

In 2017, Waterman was acquired by CTI Engineering, the leading Japanese engineering consultancy. CTI provides professional consulting services related to civil engineering and construction works, including planning, research, design, and project management.

Waterman is a premier consultant which over many years has established a reputation as being the “Go to Consultant” for both clients and staff.
