Kai Barlow shortlisted for CIBSE Apprentice of the Year Award

We are delighted to share that Kai Barlow, an undergraduate mechanical engineer apprentice based in our Nottingham office, has been shortlisted for the prestigious CIBSE Apprentice of the Year 2025 in the Level 5-7 category.

Since joining Waterman in September 2021, Kai has made a significant impact across a range of key projects, while progressing through his university studies. Now entering his fifth year, Kai has contributed to schemes including Drapery Place and Radford Road and Unite Chalmers Street, where he supported 3D modelling and layout design. He also played a vital role in developing riser spacings for mechanical and electrical systems on the Kennington Lane and Cambridge Hall projects, ensuring compliance with planning requirements.

The CIBSE Apprentice of the Year Award celebrates apprentices who demonstrate exceptional skill, innovation, and dedication within the building services engineering sector. Kai’s shortlisting is a testament to his commitment and the valuable contributions he continues to make to the team.

Waterman Nottingham’s Mechanical Manager, Phil Evans, commented: “Making the shortlist for this award is a fantastic reflection of Kai’s commitment, technical ability and the positive impact he has made within our team. We’re incredibly proud of his achievements and look forward to seeing his continued success. Well done, Kai!”

This year marks the 30th anniversary of CIBSE, recognising bright emerging talent across the industry and the winners of the apprentice award will be announced at a ceremony held at Senate House, London on Thursday 9 October.
