Construction and Development

Exemplary designs need the best site teams to bring them to life, and we take great pride in helping you realise your vision by supporting your project from inception to completion.

More than any other stage of the building cycle, successful navigation of the construction process relies heavily on clear, concise communication and a proactive, collaborative approach to dealing with challenges when they occur.

We resource our projects with attentive, approachable experts who enjoy what they do. We bring a ‘hands on’ approach to delivery, coupled with enthusiasm and passion for achieving exemplary results.

We structure our teams to provide seamless knowledge continuity from the design phase as it transitions in to the site phase, maintaining the same key staff throughout the project lifecycle.

We actively engage with all the stakeholders responsible for project delivery to ensure we positively contribute to making your scheme a success.

Our multidiscipline teams are experienced in both private and public sector projects across all engineering and environmental consultancy disciplines.

We work on schemes procured through a variety of different routes, from traditional contracts to design and build, under novation and client-side monitoring. We will support you, whatever your build strategy, and our wealth of knowledge gained working with contractors, developers and public sector clients across all sectors means that our advice and guidance is second to none.

Drawing upon our dynamic pool of expertise, we help you deliver the most complex of projects of any scale, whether it be complex contaminated land sites, projects with sensitive ecological and sustainability requirements or builds with intricate civil, structural and building services requirements.

We provide a full suite of  site monitoring services including UKGBC – compliant Net Zero carbon monitoring and tracking and deliver site – stage management of recognised industry accreditations such as BREEAM, NABERS and WELL.

Featured Project

IF5, Jersey International Finance Center. This six-storey 69,000 sq ft Grade A office building forms part of the Esplanade Quarter masterplan, delivering a major phased development and forming a world-class business hub in the heart of St Helier.

Waterman’s team delivered building services, environmental, sustainability and structural engineering design for the base build, and our sustainability experts provided advice to ensure the façade had the optimum levels of glazing to reduce the impact of solar gain, whilst maximising daylight and external views.

Three floors of the building have been taken by SANNE, a leading global provider of alternative asset and corporate administrative services. With the pre-let secured early in the construction process, our design team worked with project contractor, Cameron’s, to incorporate the Cat B fit-out requirements into the scheme, enabling immediate occupation by SANNE upon completion. Together with the fit-out architect, we created a dedicated private entrance and reception for SANNE separated from the original main entrance.

Our building services team developed the detailed design for the bespoke fit-out with study pods throughout, a large staff cafe and break-out space and an executive office suite on the fifth floor with a large south facing boardroom with harbour views. Meanwhile, our structural engineers designed additional floor strengthening for the rolling storage.

IFC 5’s design incorporates low and zero carbon technologies, including air source heat pumps and low energy LED lighting with daylight dimming control. These help maximise the building’s energy efficiency and contribute to a 15% reduction in CO2 emissions beyond the regulatory requirements. In keeping with this sustainability-focused ethos, IFC5 achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
