Waterman welcomes Simon Leonard as Technical Director

Published 1st November 2022

Joining us from Laing O’Rourke where he was Head of MEP Design and Engineering, Simon brings over 30 years’ experience in Building Services. Throughout his career, Simon has worked on major landmark projects both as a consultant and for Tier 1 contractors across a wide range of sectors, including commercial offices, mixed use, aviation, sports stadia and healthcare projects. He has led consultancy frameworks with major clients including Grosvenor Estates, Barclays and RBS and delivered major projects including Heathrow’s Terminal 5B and the fit-out of Goldman Sachs’ new headquarters in London.

Simon’s experience in building dynamic modelling and CFD analysis has reinforced his passion for the development of cutting edge net zero carbon buildings. During his time at Laing O’Rourke, Simon and his team focussed on driving efficiency and quality in building services installations through prefabrication and off-site delivery techniques, giving him a deep insight into the opportunities afforded by modern methods of construction. In addition to taking a lead role on some of Waterman’s major projects, Simon will use this extensive experience to contribute to Waterman’s research on reducing carbon through off-site manufacture as part of our Net Zero advisory service.

Mark Terndrup, Waterman’s Managing Director of Building Services (South), commented: “I am delighted to welcome Simon to our busy London team. He joins us at an exciting time as we drive forward with our initiatives to respond to the climate emergency and his experience and expertise will be a fantastic asset to both our team and the wider business.”
