Clongriffin Town Centre

Published 30th August 2022

The new town development will include over 3,000 residential units, 80,000 sqm of office and retail space, leisure facilities, healthcare facilities and a nursing home, schools, a new railway station, public transport interchange and 1,200 space basement car park when complete.

Waterman Moylan is providing civil, structural and building services consultancy work in addition to being responsible for the design of all new roads, drainage, water distribution networks and other civil infrastructure for this large-scale development.

Planning permission was first obtained in 2003 with construction of the first phase of the scheme being completed in 2006. Further work included a Town Centre which was finalised in 2008, followed by the new Clongriffin DART railway station and over 1,000 residential units in 2010.

Development was delayed due to the international financial crisis but recommenced in 2014, whereby 50 new residential units were constructed by the end of 2015. A further 112 homes have recently been completed within the Belltree development, while an additional 90 units are currently under construction in the adjacent Belltree Park. These new homes will feature a mix of two and three-storey houses which have been designed to meet the latest renewable energy requirements of the Irish Building Regulations, achieving an A3 rating or better for energy efficiency.

Planning applications have now been submitted for 300 new apartments and a 200-key hotel adjacent to the railway station, with further housing planned for the future.
