We are delighted that our project Marlborough Primary School has won the RIBA National Award 2018.
The prestigious RIBA Awards recognise successful buildings across the UK that reflect changes and innovations in architecture, with emphasis on the commitment to designing and developing buildings and spaces to improve and enhance people’s lives.
The Marlborough Primary School in London moved into its new premises in September 2017. The new school has transformed an urban site into a series of terraces that wonderfully defines a school culture centred around day lit space and external play space. It is generously resourced with state-of-the-art facilities including outdoor learning spaces, two large hall spaces, a community room, a dance studio, a creative media suite, an art and design studio and a multi-use games area on the roof.
A complex diagram in plan and section the school teaching spaces surround places of congregation, linked to a central stair arrangement and joining bridge. Orientation and connections are carefully orchestrated around the activities of the building to ensure the daily life of both teacher and student are enhanced.

Six of the National Award winners will go on to compete for the RIBA Stirling Prize which will broadcast live on BBC in recognition of the country’s outmost architectural excellence this summer.
