Named after Richard Morriss Woodhead, co-founder of the Raleigh Cycle Company, Unite Students’ 705-bedroom facility is located on Derby Road, right at the centre of the student community in Nottingham.

With access to the University of Nottingham’s Jubilee Campus available via a biodiverse green amphitheatre connecting to the river Leen, this development offers an ideal location for students and is just 15 minutes by bus to the buzzing centre of Nottingham.

The building offers a range of ensuite accommodation across six storeys, along with shared kitchen and studio room options. Morriss House is also home to Unite Students’ largest communal space offering, incorporating karaoke suite, games room and pool tables, as well as study rooms designed to encourage students to both socialise and study.

Delivered by main contractor, RG Group, our building services specialists worked with both HCD Architects and Manolo & White Architects to provide the MEP design for this exciting scheme. Our solution concentrates on maximising the performance of the building fabric and air permeability to reduce heat loss and drive down overall carbon emissions. Powered by 100% renewable electricity, our design centres around minimising in-use energy consumption, incorporating both PV panels and air source heat pumps to reduce reliance on the grid.

Delivered in time for the 2023/24 academic year, this ambitious scheme created a truly sustainable student residential offering through the introduction of solar panels, air source heat pumps, a biodiverse wildflower meadow and an amphitheatre to promote wider social interaction for our students and staff.
