The existing Eye and Ear Hospital was redeveloped in 2018 into a world-class hospital and research facility, with Waterman commissioned for all engineering services across the design and construction phases.

Our specialists prepared the site master plan and feasibility study, and undertook the complete design, documentation and construction phase services for the redevelopment of the existing Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in east Melbourne.

The project involved the complete redevelopment of the existing hospital on the existing site, including theatres, wards, laboratories and Allied Health areas. The project involved complex staging and decanting to allow all works to be undertaken, whilst occupied. The project also involved the complete upgrade of all existing site infrastructure, including new chillers, boilers, cogeneration plant, site main switchboard, generator switchboards and UPS facility.
