Waterman is delighted that the Southwest St Helier Visioning Framework has been shortlisted for The Developer’s Pineapple Awards in the ‘Future Place’ category.

Built environment industry publication, The Developer, established the annual Pineapple Awards to celebrate the very best in placemaking and recognise excellence in community engagement, activation, active travel, public space, creative retrofit, future place and place in progress.

The regeneration of 11.5 hectares at St Helier Waterfront commissioned by Jersey Development Company (JDC) aims to create a Waterfront community that sets a new standard in urban regeneration for Jersey. The proposals will deliver significant new community spaces, including 1,000 new homes, 32,301 sqm of commercial, social infrastructure, cultural and leisure facilities, and over 65,755 sqm of vibrant, fully accessible public realm. The framework allows flexibility for change but also sets in place fundamental parameters on climate, sustainability, biodiversity, connectivity and movement, open space, uses, design, building heights and views to ensure the vision is delivered for the Jersey community.

Waterman was appointed by JDC to provide Structural, Civil, MEP and Environmental Consultancy services for the scheme, and are working closely with landscape architects, Gillespies, to develop the full potential of this key St Helier waterfront site. Additionally, our team are leading the sustainability and energy strategy for the development.

All shortlisted projects will have the chance to present their scheme to the judging panel and a live audience comprising industry professionals from local government, developers, investors and architects during the ‘Festival of Place: The Pineapples’, a major, weeklong digital event that takes place 23 – 27 May.

Winners will be revealed at an awards party on 6 July. To find out more about The Developer’s Pineapple Awards, click here.
