On Sunday 11 June, our Bristol team took part in the Dragon Boat Festival, raising £1,500 for The Green House Charity who are a specialist support service for children, young adults and families who have experienced sexual abuse.
The team, named ‘Waterman Gondoliers’, dressed up in red and white striped tops and a straw hat, won two out of three races in their heats. Although they didn’t make it through to the finals, they had a brilliant day out and all rowers did amazingly well. They came 15th out of the 30 teams in the race, finishing just five seconds behind the winners! Overall, this much-loved event raised an incredible £17,000 for a range of charities.
The Rotary Club of Bristol Breakfast started the festival in 2001 in the Bristol Docks, where 40-foot dragon boats battle it out each year to raise vital funds in support of important causes.
Well done to all involved!
