Tim Grimshaw, a Senior Engineer in our Manchester office, has recently passed the assessment process for the internationally recognised Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme (BICS).
BICS encompasses detailed competencies around the inspection of common structure forms and materials, focusing largely on bridge, retaining wall and culvert assets constructed from masonry, steel and concrete, as well as awareness of other less common materials and assets. The scheme is operated by Lantra on behalf of the UK Bridges Board and is supported by the Bridge Owners Forum. Lantra are one of the UK’s leading awarding bodies for land-based industries and BICS is one of the most widely used National Highway Sector Schemes and has the full support of the Department of Transport.
Jagvinder Singh, Waterman’s National Bridges Lead, commented: “I’m delighted Tim has achieved BICS accreditation. This accolade reflects his expertise in civil infrastructure asset management and is a fitting reward for his hard work and dedication to the bridge engineering profession. We know that continuing to invest in skills and training is vital to help maintain the UK’s infrastructure stock, and Tim’s new accreditation will help support our specialist team in delivering our growing bridge inspection contract portfolio.”
