Ben Squire, Apprentice Environmental Practitioner, and Carl Goldsack, Senior Ecologist, both based in our Bristol office, recently volunteered at Ashton Keynes Millennium Green in Wiltshire.

Ashton Keynes Millennium Green is a three-hectare area of land located along two sides of the Bradstone Sports Field. Purchased with support from the former Countryside Agency in 1999, the Green is managed to encourage a diverse range of flora and fauna across meadow and light woodland habitats.

Over 90 species of birds, butterflies, and moths have been recorded at the site so far. Notably, the rare Barberry Carpet moth has been introduced via specially planted habitat trees.

Ben and Carl spent a day at Millenium Green, producing a technical note and habitat plan to establish a benchmark Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) score, while also identifying opportunities to enhance biodiversity on site.

Boosting biodiversity: Bristol Team supports Ashton Keynes Millennium Green
It was an enjoyable experience for me, my first involvement with BNG, and I appreciated the opportunity to provide recommendations for improving the habitat. I look forward to seeing how it develops and improves in the future.
