Double win at the North West Regional Construction Awards

The Countess of Chester Women & Children’s Hospital has been recognised with two awards at the North West Regional Construction Awards.

Held at the Titanic Hotel Liverpool on 2 July, this year’s event marked the 20th annual North West Regional Construction Awards, which celebrate excellence across the region’s construction industry.

The project received both the Sustainability and Sub-Regional Project of the Year – Cheshire, Wirral and Warrington Awards, recognising the dedication, collaboration and expertise of the entire project team.

Opened in autumn 2025, the state-of-the-art Women & Children’s Building brings together maternity, neonatal, paediatric and gynaecology services under one roof, replacing a 1970s RAAC-affected facility.

Designed by AHR Architects and delivered by Integrated Health Projects (VINCI Building and Sir Robert McAlpine), our building services specialists worked closely with the project team providing mechanical and electrical design for the new building through the P23 procurement route, and were instrumental in supporting the drive to achieve NZCBS status. The development features modern specialist facilities while prioritising patient experience, staff wellbeing, accessibility and sustainability. As the first building in NHS England to comply with the NHS Net Zero Carbon Building Standard, it also achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, setting a new benchmark for sustainable healthcare design.

These awards are a testament to the commitment and collaboration of everyone involved in delivering a world-class healthcare facility that will benefit patients, families and staff for generations to come.
