Waterman appoints new leadership for Building Services

Waterman, is pleased to confirm the appointment of a new leadership team for their Building Services operation.

Mark Terndrup, who has overseen the London region for 14 years and is well respected in the commercial office sector, steps up as MD for South. Mark is known for taking a lead role in many of the company’s prestigious multidisciplinary projects such as One Angel Court, Clarges, Fen Court and The Esplanade Quarter, Jersey.

Jonathan Purcell, previously in charge of the Nottingham office covering the Midlands, takes the role as MD of North. Jonathan champions wellbeing principles combined with low carbon solutions and he is most known for his award-winning design of the RIBA Sterling Prize winning Everyman Theatre in Liverpool. He also designed the NTU’s world-beating facility, the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies’.

Steven Halmshaw, director of Building Services in Leeds, is known for his presence and experience in the public sector with an extensive portfolio covering the North, joins the leadership team as Board Director for Waterman Building Services. He has also led major multidisciplinary projects in the North across the retail, leisure sectors and energy to waste sectors championing modern methods of construction.

The appointments recognise the significant achievements of all three leaders, who have each run their operations successfully for several years, with their new roles allowing them to expand their vision to focus on the business as a whole, whilst reinforcing the strong national presence of Building Services at a time when the whole industry is going through substantial change. Having maintained stability in such turbulent times, they are looking forward to investing in our next generation of talent who will support them on their journey. Together, they will continue to evolve the business, placing particular emphasis on championing innovative designs which help our clients forge a path to Net Zero.

These foundations will enable us to expand our portfolio and breadth of sector coverage. Managing Director of Waterman Building Services South. He is an accomplished leader and Chartered Engineer with 30 years’ experience as a Building Services Consultant. He is known for taking a lead role in many of the company’s multidisciplinary projects, including the well-known Angel Court development in London. Jonathan Purcell
Managing Director of Waterman Building Services North. A Chartered Building Services Engineer with over 25 years in the industry, he is a low carbon consultant with extensive experience in the performing arts sector and an expert in dynamic thermal and energy modelling of the built environment. Jonathan’s portfolio includes several prestigious landmark developments across multiple sectors, ranging from new builds to refurbishment performing arts projects including the RIBA Sterling Prize winning Everyman Theatre in Liverpool. Jonathan is passionate about designing and developing wellbeing principles combined with low carbon solutions. He is also the Director in charge of the Nottingham Office, and is an active member of the Waterman Wellbeing and Mental Health Group.

Steven Halmshaw
Board Director of Waterman Building Services. After graduating in 2004 with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering he began his career as a building services engineer in the public sector, during which time he also achieved a Master’s Degree. Steven heads up the Leeds office of Waterman Building Services. He is particularly expert in zero carbon integrated building design and is helping the company lead the way in BIM and 3d Revit based technologies.
