AIA Design Award: One Fen Court

Published 10th October 2022

One Fen Court, a 15 storey commercial and retail development in the heart of London’s insurance district, won in the ‘Large Projects’ category at The American Institute of Architects (AIA) UK Excellence in Design Awards.

The annual awards ceremony has been taking place for over 20 years in recognition for design excellence. They celebrate a mix of UK based projects, architects and designers, as well as designers across the world who have been involved in schemes in the UK.

Designed by Eric Parry Architects for developer Generali Real Estate, the scheme provides 420,000 sq ft of Grade A office space, 27,000sq ft retail space and a public passageway at street level that features a 1,900sq ft LED art installation ceiling.

Above the ninth floor, the building sets back with a crown like arrangement that showcases its spectacular 28,000 sq ft roof garden known as ‘The Garden at 120’, decorated with 79 wisteria trees, pergola canopies, 5,000 bulbs and a 200 ft recessed flowing water feature.

Waterman’s building services, sustainability and acoustic teams were appointed by Generali Real Estate to work closely alongside Development Manager CORE, Greycoat and Sir Robert McAlpine for this prestigious project.
