Airfield Farm

Published 15th November 2022

A former military airfield in open countryside situated adjacent to the Grand Union Canal, the residential-led Airfield Farm development includes up to 1,000 new homes, together with community facilities, a primary school, marina with a hotel and associated infrastructure.

Our civils team was appointed by Hallam Land Management and William Davis to provide transportation consultancy advice to support the planning approval, and we also delivered detailed designs for the highways, earthworks and structures for the scheme through to technical approval. We were subsequently novated over to the main contractor to provide detailed design and site support services.

Our team were also involved in reviewing the impact of the Strategic Development Area, which includes a further 500 dwellings on land to the south and provision of a western link road connecting with the A4304 Lubenham Hill.

After planning permission was granted, our team undertook the detailed design of the associated roads and junctions across the development and delivered the structural design for the new highway bridge. The key access to enable this development required the highway to cross over the Canal and River Trust’s waterway to the east of the site. Our bridges team were commissioned to design this bridge, paying close attention to the various constraints from multiple landowners.
