This expansion included a multi-storey tower which was constructed on the site next to the existing emergency and ambulatory care area. This increased the hospital’s capacity, with extra acute multi-day beds, ICU/HDU/CCU beds, day surgical beds, new operating theatres, CSSD and car parking.
The tower was connected to the existing facility, requiring significant replanning and reconfiguration of the support services and infrastructure within the existing facility.
Waterman was engaged by Department of Health to prepare the technical brief, review the submission from the bidders and oversee the design for this new high rise IPU tower and theatre block.
