Royal College of Pathologists new HQ scoops Architizer award

Published 7th August 2023

Waterman are delighted that the Royal College of Pathologist’s (RCP) new HQ in London has won an award in the ‘Architecture +Learning’ category at this year’s Architizer A+Awards, after being chosen from a shortlist by an expert jury panel.

The global Architizer A+Awards promote and celebrate the best architecture around the world, rewarding outstanding projects across 84 diverse categories. Architizer uses their awards to showcase the capabilities of architecture to respond to global issues, shifts in technology and our evolving society.

The RCP’s new 8-storey HQ in Aldgate, central London, is the permanent home of their staff and professional members. Featuring a double-height entrance atrium with floor to ceiling windows to maximise natural daylight, the Bennetts Associates architectural design includes a suite of state-of-art facilities with a multi-purpose 210-person conference theatre, meeting rooms, office space and examination rooms.

Our structures team provided the structural design for the project, working closely with the architect to incorporate pioneering concrete techniques which add to the premium look of the building’s interior finishes, whilst also saving time and cost elsewhere.

The project will now feature in the ‘Best of Architizer’, an annual compendium of the world’s most inspiring architecture, published in partnership with Phaidon. The 2019 Winners Edition will be published in January 2020 and will be available for pre-order this autumn.

Congratulations to all involved in this fantastic project!
