Sustainability is at the heart of our approach. Our engineers and environmentalists are trained to apply methods and measures that address climate risk through design and operation. We can map your entire life-cycle carbon journey from cradle to completion, as well as in operation and ultimately through to demolition and recycling.

 

Our specifications are formulated around lean design where carbon expenditure is minimised. We continuously measure our projects as part of driving best practice. We are investing in the development of a project carbon database. Analysing the carbon content of our past projects provides a reference point to act as a benchmark to measure the success of our future work. The reference point enables us to demonstrate tangible results achieved through innovative and lean design.

Helping drive the agenda

Our engagement in the carbon agenda is driven by the personal motivation of our experts in all disciplines resulting in the publication of a series of thought provoking articles. These papers have been widely shared across our industry, and cover topics such as how to shape building services design to reduce embodied and operational carbon, how structural elements of existing buildings can be analysed and retained to massively reduce embodied carbon when compared to demolition and new construction, how ventilation strategies can be designed to focus on wellbeing whilst slashing carbon emissions and how natural features-based solutions can boost flood resilience for UK communities.
